‘Irini’ intercepts a ship using jet fuel for allegedly violating the arms embargo against Libya

Operation Irini announced on Thursday that a ship would be intercepted with jet fuel on suspicion that it had violated the international arms embargo on Libya.

The operation revealed that it had inspected the ship ‘Royal Diamond 7’, which was intercepted 150 kilometers north of the city of Derna (northeast) in international waters, and that it was on its route in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), one of the countries , started supporting Khalifa Haftar.

“The ‘Royal Diamond 7’ carried a cargo of jet fuel which is likely to be used for military purposes. This fuel is considered ‘military material’ by the United Nations and therefore UN Security Council resolutions 2292 and 2525 are applicable” , stated.

Before adding that it carried out the operation, ‘Irini’ elaborated that “it has denied access to the ‘Royal Diamond 7’ in Libyan territorial waters and is diverting it to a European Union (EU) port for other investigations” According to information from the UN Panel of Experts on Libya.
