Iran tops 390,000 COVID-19 cases

The Iranian Ministry of Health increased the tentative balance of positive results from the new coronavirus pandemic to over 390,000 on Tuesday. This makes Iran the twelfth largest affected country in the world and the country with the most cases in the Middle East.

The latest balance shows 2,302 new infections with COVID-19 since Monday, a total of 391,112 since the beginning of the pandemic. The death toll has risen to 22,542, 132 more than the previous day, while the number of those recovered has reached 337,414.

Of the cases identified in the last 24 hours, more than half – particularly 1,226 – correspond to patients who are already in the hospital. The authorities estimate that 3,713 patients remain in intensive care units, according to the official IRNA news agency.
