Iran surpasses 120,000 coronavirus deaths threshold

Iranian authorities this Wednesday confirmed the deaths of more than 270 people from the coronavirus on the final day, which saw the Asian country hardest hit by the Middle East pandemic surpass the 120,000 death threshold.

The Iranian Ministry of Health has detailed that there have been 13,271 cases and 272 deaths in the last 24 hours, making a total of 5,572,962 and 120,160, respectively, according to the government’s account official on the social network Twitter.

He also highlighted that the number of people recovered from COVID-19 has exceeded the five million mark with 5,009,673 layoffs, while around 6,000 are being admitted to intensive care units, as the Iranian News Tasnim agency has collected.

The ministry has also stated that more than 37.74 million people have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, of which more than 16 million have received the second and already have the full schedule.
