The Iranian Ministry of Health reported 116 deaths and 2,139 new cases of coronavirus contamination in the past 24 hours this Saturday. That brings the country to a total of 23,029 deaths and 399,940 positive cases since the pandemic began.
Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said at a press conference that 1,138 of the new cases would have to be hospitalized. In addition, according to the Iranian press, he has expressed his satisfaction with the number of patients recovered (344,516). 3,768 are now admitted to intensive care units with a critical prognosis.
Iranian President Hasan Rohani also appeared this Saturday to oppose a new restriction that would mean “surrender” to the virus.
“To close and forbid everything now for health reasons would not be rational (…). To constantly fall back on the restriction would in a way be a surrender to the corona virus,” he emphasized. He has defended the operation of the country as part of hygiene measures as the only “realistic solution” to the epidemic.
