Iran is registering more than 2,500 new positives, topping 333,000 since the pandemic began

The Iranian authorities again this Wednesday reported a daily number of COVID-19 cases in excess of 2,500, bringing the preliminary balance of positive results in the Islamic Republic to over 333,000, the 10th highest number in the world.

The Iranian Ministry of Health has discovered 2,510 new positives in the last 24 hours, for a total of 333,699. Of those, just over 290,000 have overcome the disease while 18,988 have lost their lives, 188 more than Tuesday.

The minister’s spokeswoman, Sima Sadat Lari, said that of the positive results seen in the last 24 hours, more than a thousand (1,089) had to be hospitalized. According to the official IRNA news agency, the authorities estimate that around 3,940 patients are admitted to intensive care units.

The Iranian government has announced that it is investigating treatments for the coronavirus and a spokesman for Health Minister Kianush Jahanpur was indicted against the Russia-registered vaccine this Wednesday. “Before all clinical trials are completed, vaccine use is like Pandora’s box and therefore potentially dangerous,” he warned on Twitter.
