July 13, 2020

The international coalition in Yemen, led by Saudi Arabia, accused the Houthi rebels on Monday of firing several ballistic missiles at “civilian targets” in Saudi Arabia that were reportedly intercepted and destroyed.

“The coalition forces intercepted and destroyed terrorist-fired ballistic missiles this morning, the Iran-backed Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian targets in the kingdom,” said regional bloc spokesman Saudi Col. Turki al Malki.

Al Malki has accused the Houthis of “deliberately escalating hostilities by attacking civilians and civilian targets in Yemen and neighboring countries with ballistic missiles and drones,” said the official Saudi Arabian news agency SPA.

The coalition would “continue to implement all necessary procedures to protect the civilian population and civilian objectives and to carry out all operational procedures to end these acts of terrorism and failed attempts under humanitarian law”.
