The Indonesian Ministry of Health has reported 3,806 new cases of coronavirus recorded in the past 24 hours this Saturday. This is the fifth day in a row that that number has exceeded 3,000 positive cases.
The total number of infections since the pandemic began is 214,746 while the deaths in the past 24 hours are 106 for a total of 8,650. The recovered patients are 152,458, according to the Jakarta Post newspaper.
By region, Jakarta, the capital city with the highest number of cases, is 1,205 in the last 24 hours, adding 52,840, while Central Java adds 386 new cases; East Java, 384; West Java, 291; Riau, 224 and Kalimantan, 153. The virus is spread across the country’s 34 provinces.
New restrictions announced by the Jakarta government go into effect this Monday, including reimbursement of social distancing measures for at least two weeks.
