The Indonesian Ministry of Health confirmed this Friday that the country had exceeded 3,000 new infections overnight for the first time, a historic record for infections in the country.
Specifically, there are 3,003 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, which the Jakarta Post estimates bring the total number of infections across the country to 165,887.
In addition, 105 more people have died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 7,169.
The capital Jakarta has registered 869 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 37,082. West Java has now reported 526 new cases, East Java – 417; Central Java, 242 and Bali, 93. The virus has spread to the country’s 34 provinces.
