Indonesia exceeds 30,000 infections after a new daily record of almost 1,000 new sufferers

The Indonesian government confirmed this Saturday that nearly a thousand new coronavirus-infected patients exceed 30,000 cases of the disease every day.

Ahmad Yurianto, a spokesman for the special coronavirus intervention force, has confirmed a total of 993 new cases, most of which are due to an infection explosion in East Java.

With these latest infections, the country has already registered a total of 30,514 victims and 1,801 deaths at a time when the capital Jakarta wants to relax the restrictions in order to reactivate the deteriorating economy.

As of next Monday, June 8th, the capital will reopen offices, restaurants and shops up to a maximum of 50 percent of its capacity, reports the “Jakarta Post”.
