The Indian Ministry of Health reported this Sunday that the country exceeded 6.5 million cases of coronavirus by registering more than 75,000 positives in the past 24 hours.
Health officials have said that after adding the last 75,829, the number of infections in the country was 6,549,373, while adding 940 deaths, making the total deaths in the country since the start of the pandemic is 101,782.
Likewise, 937,625 cases are still active in the country, although 5,509,966 people have recovered after overcoming the coronavirus, 82,260 more on the last day, according to data collected by the Hindustan Times newspaper.
“India has maintained its global position with one of the lowest death rates compared to any other country,” said the Ministry of Health.
The country remains at the top of the list of nations with the world’s most positive coronavirus scores, and remains second after the US with more than 7.3 million positive results. India is followed by Brazil, which according to the Johns Hopkins University has so far confirmed 4.9 million.
