The Indian Ministry of Health has recorded 93,337 new cases of COVID-19 and 1,247 more deaths in the past 24 hours.
With those numbers, India has exceeded 5.3 million confirmed cases of the disease, while there are already 85,619 deaths, according to Indian health officials.
The Health Portfolio added that 101,396 cases are still classified as active. The states of Maharastra with 834,432, Andhra Pradesh with 519,891 and Karnataka with 394,026 are the most active cases to date.
The Indian Ministry of Health, the second largest pandemic-hit country in the world, reported this Saturday that the Asian country outperformed the US, which tops the list of the most severely affected people in the number of people recovered from COVID -19, reported the Hindustan Times newspaper.
According to health officials, 4,208,431 people have been cured of the disease to date after 95,880 people were laid off between Friday and Saturday. The recovery rate from the disease in India is 79.2 percent.
India has reported that an average of 70,000 people recovered daily for 11 days. The government has attributed the “effective course of a very high level of recovery” to the “effective clinical management and treatment protocols” of the Department of Health.
