India positioned itself this Monday as the second country in the world hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, having outpaced Brazil in number of cases and setting a new record of daily infections with more in the past 24 hours registered as 90,800.
The new data from the Indian Ministry of Health shows the country has achieved 4,204,613 positive results for COVID-19, to which the 90,802 confirmed last day has been added.
This is the second day in a row that Indian health officials have confirmed more than 90,000 infections in a single day. They also counted 1,016 more deaths from the pandemic, bringing the total death toll to 71,642.
Likewise, 882,542 cases remain active in the country, despite the fact that more than 3.2 million people have already recovered after overcoming the disease, according to the NDTV chain, more than 69,000 on the last day.
