India has exceeded 250,000 cases of coronavirus after adding a new record of daily infections – nearly 10,000 -. This is evident from an official record that coincides with the reopening of shopping centers, restaurants and religious temples in large parts of the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, 9,983 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed since Sunday, representing a total of more than 256,000. Almost half of them, around 124,000, have already overcome the disease, while 7,135 died, 206 more than on Sunday, the NDTV network reports.

India, the fifth country with the highest pandemic incidence in the world, has its main epicenter in the state of Maharashtra, so that only this area exceeds China in all cases. The capital and financial center Bombay are together one of the most affected cities in the country.
