The Indian Ministry of Health confirmed 50,921 deaths from COVID-19 this Monday after recording 941 deaths in the past 24 hours. This ends the deadliest week due to the pandemic since the health emergency was passed.
For the fifth consecutive year, the death toll exceeds 900. Last week, India added 6,555 deaths, 4.4 percent more than last year when the deaths of 6,279 people were confirmed.
According to the latest data released by the ministry, 2,647,663 cases of COVID-19 have already occurred in India after 57,981 new positives were detected in the past 24 hours.
India is the third country with the highest number of accumulated infections after the United States with more than 5.4 million. and Brazil with 3.3 million. As well as the fourth death that was only surpassed by these two countries plus Mexico.
There are currently 676,900 active cases nationwide, while 1,919,842 people have been laid off after overcoming the disease.
