India exceeds 20,000 infections in a day and the threshold of 16,000 deaths

The Indian authorities confirmed this Sunday that the country has exceeded its daily infection record for over 20,000 cases for the fifth time in a row. A number that contributes to another tragic threshold that has been exceeded in the past few hours: that of the 16,000 deaths that have been confirmed since the pandemic broke out.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country is 529,533, with 16,095 deaths – 414 more since Saturday -, 309,202 layoffs and 204,326 active cases, according to the Ministry of Health balance collected by The Times of India. .

In particular, the country registered 20,060 new infections, while nine countries checked their respective daily case records.

Maharashtra has registered 6,368 new cases, while Tamil Nadu has confirmed 3,713 infections since Saturday. The number of cases in Delhi was nearly 3,000 (2,948) and over 2,000 infections in Bombay in the past 24 hours.
