India exceeds 1 million cases of coronavirus after registering more than 36,000 on the last day

India passed 1 million COVID-19 infections this Friday after registering more than 36,000 additional cases in the past 24 hours.

The country, which is the third country after the U.S. and Brazil to hit the one million positive numbers, added a total of 36,247 new infections, increasing the global balance to 1,004,652 infected in four and a half months after its first case.

According to Indian health authorities, collected by the Hindustan Times newspaper, 690 new COVID-19 deaths have also been verified, increasing the global balance to 25,594 deaths.

As of Thursday, India had 343,268 active cases of the disease, and experts say the country will add another million cases in less than a month.
