India registered a new daily record of cases this Saturday after adding more than 97,500. According to the Ministry of Health, the country has registered more than 4.6 million infections to date. The data is also the highest recorded by any country since the pandemic began.

On the last day 97,570 infections were registered, so there are already 4,659,984 confirmed cases in the country, which are the second most affected worldwide and according to experts could end before the US, which already has more than 6.4 million cases.

In addition, there were an additional 1,201 deaths, bringing the death toll to 77,472, the third in the world. According to the ministry, the death rate is 1.66 percent.
