The new coronavirus pandemic, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has left 75,809 new cases and 1,133 deaths in India in the past 24 hours. That is the new record for deaths in one day, bringing the total to over 4.28 million from infected people and more than 72,000 deaths, according to the balance released Tuesday by the Indian Ministry of Health.
With the new data, the pandemic balance on Indian soil is 4,280,422 infected and 72,775 deaths. In terms of recovery, 3.32 million people have managed to overcome COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, which accounts for 77.65 percent of all infections.
After two consecutive records with more than 90,000 positive results on Sunday and Monday were registered in the daily case count, the balance of this Tuesday falls below the number of 80,000 infections. According to the PTI news agency, the death rate for coronaviruses in India is 1.7 percent to date.
According to the Indian Ministry of Health, there are currently 883,697 active infections, which is 20.65 percent of the total. India exceeded two million infections on August 7, hit three million on August 23 and four million on September 5.
So far, according to the Indian Medical Research Council, health officials have performed 50.65 million coronavirus tests, including 1.09 million tests done on Monday during the day.
