The Chinese Ministry of Health this Saturday confirmed another 15 infections of local transmission in the Xinjiang region, home of the Uyghur Muslim minority, a slight decrease in cases after authorities decided to close the capital, Urumqi, three ago Weeks because of a rebound.
In total, China has registered 23 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours. Eight newly imported cases need to be added to the 19 in Xinjiang. Five of these were discovered in Canton Province, two in Shanghai and one more in Zhejiang in eastern China.
With these new data, China’s balance has risen to 84,619 cases of coronavirus, while 2,134 positive results have already been found from abroad.
In addition, the Asian country’s health authorities are not aware of any additional deaths from COVID-19, so the death toll remains at 4,634.
