Hurricane Elsa is “weakening slightly” as it approaches the coast of Cuba

Hurricane Elsa recorded a “slight weakening” on its way towards Cuba’s coast and now carries maximum continuous winds of 130 kilometers per hour.

In the past few hours, the hurricane has moved northwest at a speed of 46 kilometers per hour and is now in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, 520 kilometers from the coasts of Santo Domingo and the Dominican Republic, according to the Institute of Meteorology from Cuba.

In the next 24 hours Elsa will continue a similar course with minor fluctuations in her translation speed and even gain in intensity again in the next twelve hours.

The Cuban authorities have reminded of the “potential danger” of the meteorological phenomenon and signaled that they will “closely monitor” its development.
