Hungarian authorities reported this Monday that they exceeded more than a million people who received the first dose of the vaccine, which would already be vaccinated with the drug for 13.2 percent of the country.
According to official statistics from the Hungarian government’s health director, Cecilia Müller, 1,002,714 people have been vaccinated. Of these, 307,929 have already received the second dose.
Hungary uses the vaccines approved by the EU, but also the Russian vaccine Sputnik V and that of the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm as part of an emergency approval.
The Central European country ranks 12th in the world in terms of the number of doses administered, far from the 55.2 percent of Israelis who received the first dose of the vaccine. Bahrain, the USA, Chile and Serbia are also ahead of Hungary.
In terms of infections, Hungary reported 2,696 new infections and 115 deaths this Monday, representing 468,713 confirmed cases and 15,988 deaths since the pandemic started.
