Hungary closes its borders to all foreigners due to the increase in coronavirus cases abroad

The Hungarian authorities announced this Friday that as of September 1, national borders will be closed to all travelers from abroad, with the exception of Hungarian citizens, as the number of coronavirus cases abroad increases.

Government spokesman Gergely Gulyas has stated in a statement that the majority of new infections registered in the country are people from third countries. However, he has made sure that those who have “a valid reason to attend” are able to do so.

Hungary has found 132 new cases in the past 24 hours with a population of around 10 million people. The use of the mask is mandatory in all closed public spaces as well as in restaurants.
