As China’s annual, rubber stamp parliament meets in Beijing, one proposal in particular has caught the world’s attention – the scrapping of the presidential term limits, potentially making Xi Jinping president for life.

His critics are not welcome at the party and the BBC has captured rare footage of one method used to silence them – enforced “holidays” paid for by the police.
