Hospital pressures continue to grow in France and more than 4,600 people have been admitted to intensive care units

Health officials reported this Tuesday that hospital intensive care unit (ICU) pressures continue to rise after confirming admission of an additional 488 people in the past 24 hours, for whom there are already 4,634 patients with serious illnesses.

The French Ministry of Health has also confirmed the deaths of 287 other people from the disease, with 14,678 new cases diagnosed as of Tuesday.

A total of 4,313,073 people have been infected with the disease in France, of which 92,908 have died. As for the vaccine, as of Monday, approximately 6.37 million people had been vaccinated with at least one dose, while approximately 2.5 had received both.

During his visit this Tuesday to a vaccination center in Valenciennes in northern France, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that health authorities will start vaccinating citizens between 70 and 75 years old against COVID-19 on Saturday without any prior pathologies.

“There are no weekends and holidays for vaccinations,” said Macron, who stated that “they are continuing to search for people over 75” excluded from the previous section so the government will allow a phone line to call this one Purpose.
