In the past few hours, Honduras has had more than 1,000 coronavirus deaths, while the total number of people infected with COVID-19 is over 36,000.
The National Risk Management System (SINAGER) reported that another 18 deaths and 757 new cases have occurred on the previous day. The remaining amount is 1,006 dead and 36,102 infected.
SINAGER has shown in detail that of the total number of infected 1,581 were hospitalized – 1,047 stable, 475 heavy and 59 in the intensive care unit – while 4,315 patients managed to overcome COVID-19.
Honduras has declared quarantines and curfews to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but, despite the fact that the contagion curve is increasing, has initiated de-escalation to mitigate the effects of the economic crisis.
At that time, the government of Juan Orlando Hernández focused on ensuring the supply of the future vaccine. For example, Honduras has joined the Gavi Covax Alliance, which gives its members access to the portfolio of vaccines under development, according to the Honduran newspaper ‘El Heraldo’.
