Hezbollah Militia Party has given assurances that the recent decision by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (TEL) convicting a person associated with the Shiite group for the murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri is not “concerned”.
“We are not worried,” Rana Sahili, a member of the Hezbollah press team, told the DPA news agency.
Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah said last Friday, before the TEL verdict became known, that it would mean “nothing” to the party militia. “We do not consider ourselves affected by your decision,” he said.
TEL issued its ruling on Tuesday convicting Salim Jamil Ayyash and acquitting the other three defendants in the attack that killed Hariri and 21 others on February 14, 2005, and injured more than 200 in a car bomb explosion . in Beirut.
