Guterres points out that the challenge of ending poverty is even more “necessary” and “urgent” after the pandemic

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said Tuesday that the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has “never been more difficult, urgent and necessary” to combat poverty and achieve sustainable development goals ( ODS) marked by the organization.

“Our goal remains clear: to help countries steer and accelerate progress towards sustainable development goals while fully respecting the principle of national ownership,” said Guterres at the opening of the first virtual Council meeting . United Nations Economy and Social Affairs (ECOSOC).
