Guterres expresses “deep concern” about the increase in violence in the Darfur region of Sudan

The Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his “deep concern” on Wednesday about the increase in violent incidents in the Darfur region of Sudan, which have resulted in nearly 70 deaths in the past two weeks.

Guterres deputy spokesman Farhan Haq recalled that the incident burned more than 1,500 homes, leaving thousands of displaced people in “great need for humanitarian aid” while applauding government efforts to respond to these events .
