Guinean security forces fire tear gas during protests in Conakry against Condé

The Guinean security forces used tear gas on Tuesday during protests in the capital Conakry against the candidacy of President Alpha Condé for a third term as head of the African country.

According to the Guinean news portal Guinée Direct, the protests have led to clashes in the Sonfonia region for which no information on detainees or injuries is currently available.

Likewise, early in the day the Guinean armed forces surrounded the home of a senior official from the National Opposition Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC) in response to protests called during the training session.

The FNDC has indicated in a message posted on its account on the social network Facebook that access to the home of its national coordinator Abdourahamane Sano has been blocked by the authorities.
