The government of Guatemala has increased the preliminary balance of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic to over a thousand after 23 more deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours.
The Guatemalan Ministry of Health reported 815 additional cases on Tuesday, in which more than 24,000 people in the Central American country have already tested positive. In particular, the authorities have confirmed 24,787 cases of the new corona virus.
The Guatemala department, in which the capital is located, is the most affected by the pandemic and focuses on more than 17,000 cases, well above the two cases listed on the list, Escuintla and Sacatepéquez, which affect little more than a thousand infections. .
Deputy Armando Castillo, member of the Board of Directors of Congress, has confirmed that at least three lawmakers have contracted the disease, although he has not elaborated on it. “I don’t say the names because it is obviously a very personal and very sensitive issue,” he said, according to the newspaper ‘Prensa Libre’.
