Guaidó condemns the arrival of a Haftar plane in Venezuela

June 9, 2020

Venezuela’s self-proclaimed “responsible president,” Juan Guaidó, has denounced the arrival of a Libyan General Jalifa Haftar plane that is leading the offensive against the government of national unity in Libya.

“Yesterday (Sunday) the plane of Libyan (commander) Jalifa Haftar landed,” he said during a virtual meeting of Latin American parliaments organized on Monday by the Organization of American States (OAS).

The President of the Venezuelan National Assembly announced no further details, but raised this “alarm flag” for the alleged involvement of the Nicolás Maduro government in “a conflict not typical of the region”.

The opposition leader again condemned Maduro’s alleged aid to Colombian ELN guerrillas and FARC dissent, as well as his ties to Iran, indicating that up to 17 Iranian flights to Venezuela have arrived in the past two months.
