Greece intercepts 80 migrants in the Ionian Sea heading to Italy

The Greek coast guard intercepted around 80 migrants aboard a boat near the island of Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea when they were trying to get into Italy.

According to the Greek public broadcaster ERT, the migrants were disembarked in a port near the city of Olympia on the Peloponnese peninsula.

Among the migrants, there are Iraqis, Syrians, Afghans, Tricks and Kurds, the victims themselves declared, and they moved to western Greece after leaving several migrant camps.

Authorities are now looking for traffickers who have made the boat available to migrants, according to Greek public radio.
