Given the prospects for the development of the COVID 19 pandemic, Google announced that the home office will be maintained until July 2021. In a statement to the employees, Sundar Pichai, the company’s managing director, announced the announcement.
The decision will affect almost all full-time or contract employees of the parent company Alphabet, about 200,000 in total, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Google had previously announced that it would allow its employees to work remotely until the end of 2020, although it would reopen its offices worldwide in early June this year.
The newspaper noted that the measure was a result of Sundar Pichai wanting to improve the situation for those who need to be at home with their children, as school activities around the world are still uncertain.
