Ghani approves the release of the last group of prisoners called for by the Taliban for peace talks in Afghanistan

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani signed a decree on Monday approving the release of the last group of 400 Taliban called upon by the group to start peace talks after an advisory assembly on the subject decided on days.

The Presidency confirmed the signing of the document through its Twitter social network account and published photos of the event, highlighting that the decision is in line with the conclusions of the Loya Yirga.

“Following the decision of the Loya Yirga, which approved the release of the remaining Taliban inmates in Article 2 of its resolution, the president signed a decree pardoning those on the list of 5,000 Taliban,” he said in a number of embassies.
