One of the main measures taken to contain infections during the COVID-19 pandemic is the use of face masks. Since it is an indispensable accessory today, someone decided on a fun variant and created the “Guayabocas”, a mask that was inspired by the typical Guayaberas from Yucatan, Mexico.
There are currently many options for those who want to combine the mask with their outfit. There are the simplest single-use items, the handcrafted ones and even those designed by luxury companies.
In this scenario, the Yucatec brand Guayaberas Chui Chen designed its own version, which is based on the traditional men’s shirt and was called “Guayabocas”.
The guayabera is a type of short-sleeved shirt that is known for its four pockets and two rows of tucks. It was used in the late 19th century and is part of clothing and culture in the Yucatán and Veracruz states.
The guayabera masks are made of flame linen or cotton, have a surgical filter and are washable. Their price is only 40 Mexican pesos and they handle shipments across the country.
