Have you ever wondered why after a stressful experience, such as fighting with your wife or hearing that many people are being fired in your office, do you have a physical reaction such as a headache or stomach ache? According to the Huffington Post , this is because “most of the factors that stress us are physical, so they require a physical response.”

Being stressed is not fun, in addition to physical symptoms, it can lead to insomnia, depression and poor work performance with serious implications in your work and personal life. s are stressed most of the time. I wear traffic and believe me, this is something I know we all have to deal with every now and then. In order not to be consumed by stress, here are 11 tips to get it out of your life:

1. Identify what causes it. Melissa Eisler says on the Chopra Center website that “recognizing what causes these stressful reactions is the first step in managing them.” She suggests that you can discover the triggers by asking obvious questions like “what stresses you and how do you react to this?” After discovering it, you can create a list of the most important and work on eliminating it if possible, or at least change your reactions.

2. Lead a healthy life. It is proven that one of the best ways to relieve stress is to be healthy . Whether you've been on a walk, taking a yoga class, sleeping well or avoiding junk food, taking care of your body is the most common and effective way to reduce stress in your life.

3. Get organized. Whether at home or at work, disorganization is one of the most common causes for stress. After all, it's frustrating when you can't find what you're looking for. That's why you should not only fix your office or home, but also develop a system to keep you organized.

4. Stop procrastinating . The Psychological Science Association says that “people who leave everything for later have higher levels of stress.” To stop doing this, Leo Babauta suggests that you create a “do it now” habit. Do the most important thing first or work on a challenging project for 10 minutes.

5. Turn off your phone. Richard Balding, a psychologist at the University of Worcester, England, discovered that smartphones can cause stress. Why? These have created a great need to see and respond to every message that comes to us. Even if you can't have your phone turned off 24 hours a day, you must have certain planned moments when it is turned off or silent to calm down.

6. Do something that makes you happy. Among all your obligations and responsibilities, maybe you think you don't have time for the hobbies that made you happy . You can be from watching your favorite show, planning a vacation, talking with a friend, listening to music, going to the movies or even taking a nap.

7. Stop filling the calendar. The commitments never end. Between work, family, social activities and work tasks, you have a full schedule. This becomes a problem when commitments interfere with others or if they affect your life. If you edit your list of responsibilities, you will most likely realize that you need a lot of free time, which will reduce stress. We all have 24 hours in our day, what are you filling them with?

8. Accept people for who they are. There is nothing more frustrating than a coworker who chews with his mouth open, a person who does not clean his dump or a neighbor who puts the music very loudly. It doesn't matter if the people close to you stress you, accept it as it is.

9. Be grateful. An investigation by renowned psychologists Robert Emmons and Michael McCullough says that “grateful people report higher levels of positive emotions, life satisfaction, vitality, optimism and lower levels of depression and stress.”

Mark Williams and Danny Penman, authors of “Mindfulness: An Eight Week Plan for Finding Peace in a Frantic World,” suggest that you write down 10 things for which you are grateful every day.

10. Avoid multitasking. We are all very busy, so multitasking seems like a great idea at first, but it really only adds more stress to our lives. Having several tasks can be very stressful. In the short term, that can make you feel bad. In the long term it can be a direct threat to health.

11. Kiss someone. A study conducted by Dr. Laura Berman says that “couples who only kiss when they have relationships are eight times more likely to suffer from stress and depression than those who do at any time.” Dr. Berman says “kissing takes us away stress by creating a sense of connectivity, which releases endorphins, the chemicals that counteract stress and depression. ”

In addition to making you happier, lowering your stress level has medical benefits. So take your favorite book, thank you for what you have and stop filling yourself with commitments. These steps will make you have a healthier and happier life.
