German health authorities have registered 781 new cases of coronavirus and seven deaths in the last 24 hours, compared to 815 infections and the previous ten deaths. This emerges from the balance published on Saturday by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). the government agency responsible for controlling infectious diseases.
With the new data, the balance amounts to 204,964 infected and 9,118 deaths. In recovery, approximately 189,800 people were cured after infection with the coronavirus.
Since mid-May, the RKI has also specified a so-called seven-day transmission R number. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to estimates by the RKI, this value – with data from July 23 at 0.00 a.m. – was 1.05 (previous day: 1.01) and reflects the course of infection 8 to 16 days ago.
Most of the states concerned continue to head the list with Bavaria, with
50,260 infections and 2,619 deaths, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia with 47,257 cases and 1,728 deaths and Baden-Württemberg with 36,819 cases and 1,841 deaths. The capital Berlin has registered 8,957 cases and 223 deaths.
