Germany registers 397 infections and 12 deaths from COVID-19 within 24 hours

The German authorities reported 397 new infections and 12 further deaths as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday, in which almost 200,000 cases occur in German territory.

In particular, according to the Robert Koch Institute, the German government agency responsible for the control and monitoring of infectious diseases, 197,341 cases of the new corona virus have already been registered, while the mortality rate has risen to 9,036.

Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-W├╝rttemberg remain the three countries with the highest number of cases with 48,953, 44,306 and 35,890 respectively. The capital city of Berlin achieved more than 8,500 positive results on Wednesday after 215 more positive results were achieved in 24 hours.

The government has activated a voluntary mobile phone application to monitor coronavirus cases. The ‘app’, which collects 15 million downloads, is used to track infections and uses Bluetooth technology to notify people she has been in contact with.
