The German authorities increased the provisional balance of the risk of contagion of the new coronavirus to over 217,000 on Tuesday after doubling the data on Monday and hitting the 1,000 positive threshold again within 24 hours.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the government agency that monitors the spread of the virus, confirmed 966 new cases of COVID-19 this Tuesday, a total of 217,293 since the pandemic began.
The death toll has risen to 9,201, four more than the previous day, while the number of those recovered is around 198,000, according to the institute.
According to federal states, North Rhine-Westphalia is again the most severely affected with 52,175 infected people, ahead of Bavaria with 51,946 infected. The capital Berlin has registered 9,740 positives so far.
