German health authorities have registered 815 new coronavirus cases and ten deaths in the last 24 hours, compared to 569 infections, and the six died the previous day government agency responsible for fighting infectious diseases.
With the new data, the balance amounts to 204,183 infected and 9,111 deaths. In recovery, approximately 189,400 people were cured after infection with the coronavirus.
The institute indicated that the number of reproductions (R-value) on July 23 at 0.00 a.m. was 0.93 (when the previous day was 0.89). This means that each infected person infects fewer than one person on average. The R value reflects the course of infection within ten days.
Since mid-May, the RKI has also given a so-called 7-day R number. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to estimates by the RKI, this value – with data from July 23 at 0.00 a.m. – was 1.05 (previous day: 1.01) and reflects the course of infection 8 to 16 days ago.
Most of the states concerned continue to head the list with Bavaria, with
50,112 infections and 2,619 deaths, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia with 46,956 cases and 1,726 deaths and Baden-Württemberg with 36,731 cases and 1,726 deaths. The capital Berlin has recorded 8,894 cases and 222 deaths.
