The German health authorities have registered 569 new cases of coronavirus and six deaths in the last 24 hours, compared to 522 infections and four deaths the previous day, which corresponds to a total of more than 203,000 infected and more than 9,100 deaths. According to the balance this Thursday from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the government agency responsible for monitoring infectious diseases.
The new data bring the balance to 203,368 infected and 9,101 deaths after six deaths from the previous balance were recorded. The RKI estimates that around 189,000 COVID-19 patients have passed and have been discharged.
The institute indicated that the reproductive number of the new coronavirus, the R value, was 0.89 compared to 1.04 the previous day. This means that each infected person infects fewer than one person on average. The R value reflects the course of infection within ten days.
Since mid-May, the RKI has also given a so-called 7-day R number. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations.
According to estimates by RKI, this value – with data from July 22 at 0.00 a.m. – is 1.01 compared to 1.08 on the previous day and reflects the course of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. .
