The new coronavirus pandemic, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has left 1,499 new cases in Germany in the past 24 hours and caused four deaths, compared with 814 infections and no deaths from the previous day, bringing the balance to more than 252,000 increases infected people and more than 9,300 deaths, reports the Robert Koch Institute, the government agency responsible for controlling and monitoring infectious diseases.
With the new data, the balance of the pandemic on German soil this Tuesday amounts to 252,298 infected people and 9,329 deaths. In terms of recovery, 226,500 people have already been cured, including 1,500 discharged in the last 24 hours.
With 60,695 positive and 1,823 deaths, North Rhine-Westphalia is the most severely affected state in Germany, followed by Bavaria with 59,804 cases and 2,643 deaths and Baden-Württemberg with 43,861 infected and 1,867 deaths. Berlin has 11,792 cases and 226 deaths.
Angela Merkel’s government and the regions have in the past few days spoken out in favor of tightening restrictions to contain the outbreaks of the past few weeks, with explicit recommendations not to travel to areas considered to be at risk.
