The coronavirus pandemic infected over 159,000 people in Germany and killed 6,288 people. This emerges from the report published on Thursday by the Robert Koch Institute, the German government agency responsible for the surveillance of communicable diseases.
The 1,478 new cases of coronavirus represent a slight increase compared to 1,304 infections in the previous equilibrium, but remain below the 2,000 positive daily results. The total number of infections is 159,119, with 178 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Bavaria is the most affected state with 42,080 infected and 1,799 deaths. It is followed by North Rhine-Westphalia (32,687 positive and 1,219 deaths) and Baden-Württemberg (31,609 infections and 1,353 deaths). The capital Berlin registered 5,827 cases and 147 deaths.
This equilibrium is evident from the pessimistic economic estimates last Friday in Germany, where the confidence of its businesspeople declined “catastrophically” in April and has reached a level of pessimism like never before, as the index of the Munich Institute for Economic Research (IFO) , which fell from 85.9 in the previous month to a record low of 74.3 points.
