The pandemic of the new coronavirus from the Chinese city of Wuhan has caused 503 cases and nine deaths in Germany in the last 24 hours compared to 466 infections and twelve deaths the previous day, bringing the balance to more than 195,000 infected and more than 8,900 deaths.
The Robert Koch Institute, the German government agency responsible for combating and monitoring infectious diseases, has ensured that 180,300 people have overcome the disease, 500 more than in the previous balance sheet.
Bavaria remains the most affected state with 48,547 infections and 2,597 deaths, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia with 43,436 infected and 1,684 deaths and Baden-Württemberg with 35,744 cases and 1,838 deaths. There were 8,302 cases and 214 deaths in the capital Berlin.
The biggest outbreak in recent weeks took place in North Rhine-Westphalia, where more than 1,500 workers in Germany’s largest slaughterhouse, which is operated by the Tönnies company, have tested positive for corona viruses since mid-June.
