June 4, 2020

An autopsy of African-American citizen George Floyd from Hennepin County, who was killed by the police in Minneapolis, found that he was infected with coronavirus.

According to an autopsy report released this Wednesday, Floyd was subjected to a postmortem COVID-19 diagnostic test that was positive.

The chief doctor Dr. Andrew Baker has stated that the test, a PCR, “for weeks after the onset and resolution of the clinical disease” can show a positive result.

Therefore, “the autopsy result likely reflects an asymptomatic but persistent positivity to PCR for a previous infection,” he added, as reported by the CNN television broadcaster. This means, Baker stressed that the virus played no role in his death and is unlikely to be contagious.
