Walensky and Fauci added that the decision was made because case rates have dropped, existing vaccines have proven robust to emerging variants, and eligibility for the Pfizer vaccine applies to all Americans 12 years and older and to the three approved vaccines Emergency use has been expanded by the FDA to 16 years and older.
