France urges Afghanistan not to release any Taliban convicted of the murder of French citizens

France has asked the Afghan government not to release the Taliban involved in the deaths of French citizens after the executive released the first of the 400 prisoners requested by the insurgent group.

The French Foreign Ministry has issued a statement expressing “concern” that “terrorists” convicted of murdering French soldiers and humanitarian workers will also be released.

He was ready to help Afghanistan in the peace process, but assured that the country “must respond to the needs of the victims of the conflict and that those responsible for the most serious crimes must be held fully accountable”.
