The French government has reported 14,412 new cases and 39 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours this Saturday, bringing the total to 31,700 deaths and 527,446 confirmed cases.
The number of new infections is slightly lower than on Friday, but the rate of positive infections continues to rise and is 7.2 percent after 6.9 percent on Friday.
This week, France took new measures to curb infections that resulted in 4,102 hospitalizations in the past seven days, including 763 serious cases being treated in intensive care, up from 747 on Friday.
In addition, the French Ministry of Health’s newsletter has 1,183 outbreaks under investigation, 58 more than on Friday. All 101 departments into which the country is administratively divided are in a situation of “limited, medium or high vulnerability”.
