French health officials this Friday reported 8,975 new cases of coronavirus, a daily rate of infection unprecedented since the pandemic began and aggravating the upward trend seen in recent days.
With the new cases, France is already accumulating 309,156 cases of COVID-19. Of these, 30,686 patients died, 19 more than the deaths recorded in statistics released by the Public Health Service on Thursday.
With the start of the school year and the ongoing normalization of work activity, they increased the number of outbreaks studied to a total of 444 at a crucial point in time. Just this Friday, the government confirmed that 22 schools and a hundred classes had to close due to COVID-19 cases.
Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer noted that the data are low as there are a total of 60,000 educational centers in France. Of the 22 closed centers, twelve correspond to the island of Reunion.
