France is nearing 30,000 COVID-19 deaths after another 26 deaths have occurred

The French health authorities have reported that a further 26 coronavirus deaths have been recorded on the last day, bringing the country closer to 30,000 deaths since the pandemic started.

Of the 29,778 deaths currently, 19,290 occurred in hospitals, while another 10,488 occurred in nursing homes and day care centers. This number will be updated on June 30th.

The number of people still in the hospital continues to fall. There are now 8,886 patients enrolled, 255 fewer than yesterday. 634 patients were admitted to intensive care units, 17 fewer than the day before.

The hospital stay rate in the regions most affected by the pandemic Ile-de-France, Haute-France, Greater East and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes remains at 74 percent.

In a statement, the French Ministry of Health warned of the “rapid spread of the virus in French Guiana” and clarified that 207 are currently being hospitalized and 37 patients are in the ICU in overseas areas.
